Final decision to retain ‘D’ unit as before in DU. This year too, a final decision has been taken to retain the ‘D’ unit as before. According to a press release issued by the university, the results of the higher secondary examination of the students enrolled in the 1st year undergraduate (honors) class in 2021-2022 have already been published.
As the students are preparing to participate in the admission test in the existing 5 units as before, it has been decided to retain the ‘D’ unit this year in the admission test of Dhaka University. As a result, the admission test will be held in all the five units ‘A, B, C, D, and F’ in this academic year.
In the light of the decision of the special meeting of the previous General Admission Committee (07 February 2022), the admission test for the 1st year undergraduate (honors) class from 2022-2023 will be held through 4 units reconstituted. The 04 units reconstituted in the admission test are (1) Arts, Law and Social Sciences Units (II), Science Units (III) Business Education Units, and (4) Fine Arts Units.
From 2022-to 2023, the admission test will be held in four units reconstituted in Dhaka University. However, as this year’s students have started preparing for 5 units, the final decision has been taken to retain the ‘D’ unit as before this year. It is to be noted that students seeking admission in science and business studies units will have the opportunity to participate in the admission test in the ‘Arts, Law and Social Sciences’ unit for change of department/unit.
In addition, students of the humanities stream can take the test in mathematics/statistics or economics/accounting science or any subject with preconditions along with the admission test of the ‘Arts, Law and Social Sciences’ unit for admission in science or commerce subjects. In the meeting, the deans were advised to think about admitting students to universities through a single standardized test in the future, just like universities in the developed world, to save time, labor, and money.
