New instructions issued to government employees: Ministry of Public Administration. The Ministry of Public Administration has issued new instructions to give an account of the assets of government employees. Recently, a letter has been sent from the Ministry of Public Administration to senior secretaries/secretaries of all ministries and departments with new instructions.

It said that all government officials covered under the Government Jobs Act, 2018 have been requested to notify the Ministry in accordance with provisions 11, 12, and 13 of the ‘Public Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1979’, regarding the submission of asset statement to the administrative ministry controlling them, the acquisition/sale of immovable property from the concerned administrative ministry, creating and regulating the said asset statement database. According to the ‘Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1979’, there are rules for government employees to file statements of assets after five years and take permission to acquire or sell immovable property.

But the government officials and employees are not following this rule, so far the government has not had any supervision in this regard. In this regard, a letter from the Ministry of Public Administration was sent on June 24 last year from the Ministry of Public Administration to the Senior Secretaries/Secretaries of all ministries and departments to comply with the rules of filing of asset statements and acquisition or sale of immovable property by implementing the rules in this regard. After this letter of the Ministry of Public Administration, the ministry and the departments under the departments are urging their own officers and employees, including the agencies. But government employees do not respond to account for the wealth.
