University admission test in the entire syllabus

University admission test in the entire syllabus. The convener of the technical committee on admission to cluster public universities (2020-21) says that the syllabus that hsc and equivalent students have read should not be considered in the admission test. The university admission test will be conducted in the entire syllabus. In the meantime, it has been decided in principle to conduct the admission test in the entire syllabus for admission of students in medical colleges and dental colleges. The Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University is telling our message daily that there is no syllabus for the admission test in the university.

Director (Medical Education) of the Department of Health Education Prof. Dr. AKM Ahsan Habib said that in the case of admission of students in medical and dental colleges, exams will be conducted in the entire syllabus. The decision was taken in a meeting held recently with stakeholders related to admission tests, including the Ministry of Health, Health Department, BMDC. He said that when there was a discussion in the meeting about the examination in the restructured syllabus, they were of the opinion to take the exam in the entire syllabus as before.

Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said there is no syllabus prescribed for the admission test in Dhaka University. The exam is usually based on the curriculum followed by the students. The faculty deans will decide on what basis the questionnaire will be formulated. Prof. Dr. Abdul Bachir, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Dhaka University, said that the decision on how and on what criteria the university’s admission test will be held will be taken in consultation with the Academic Council. He said there will be a meeting on the admission test in March. However, Education Minister Dipu Mani has repeatedly said that the admission test should also be conducted in the short syllabus.

Academicians say the university should have an admission test in the entire syllabus. Because if you want to take the test in a small syllabus, the authorities will also have to face many obstacles in the preparation of the question paper. There is a fear of missing out on the talented. If you do not master the entire syllabus of higher secondary, many subjects at the university level will not be understood by the students. Although the public universities have not yet taken a final decision on the admission test, most of them have voted in favour of taking the exam in the entire syllabus.

Prof. Dr. Munaz Ahmed Noor, convener of the technical committee on admissions in public universities (2020-21) in the GST cluster and vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, said that more students take part in the admission test as compared to the seats allotted in the universities. This exam is a process of excluding more students than the allotted seats. Therefore, it should not be considered which syllabus the HSC and equivalent students have read. The university authorities will conduct the exam on their own.
