The decision was taken at a special meeting of the General Admission Committee on Monday (February 7).
This has been confirmed by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman. “We had decided a long time ago not to conduct the admission test in unit ‘D’. It’s in the process of being finalized. Today’s meeting approved the earlier decision. It will now be finalized at the academic council meeting.

The meeting, which was chaired by Akhtaruzzaman, was attended by Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof. Dr. A.S.M. Maqsood Kamal, Treasurer Prof. Mumtaz Uddin Ahmed, Deans of various Faculties, Chairmen of various Departments and Directors of various Institutes.
In that meeting, it was discussed that in the light of the three sections (science, humanities, and business education) that the students study in higher secondary, they want to have three units of the admission test. It was discussed in the meeting for and against it. The initial decision was taken not to have ‘D’ units as most of the deans voted in favor of the proposal.
In the meeting, as per the earlier decision, the admission of students to the 1st year undergraduate (honors) class under four units (a, b, c, f) from 2021-2022 was discussed. The Deans’ Sub Committee is tasked with formulating the policy for changing the unit of the students in case of admission.
Earlier on November 8, 2020, in a meeting of the Deans’ Committee of The Dhobi, the initial decision was taken not to conduct a separate admission test for the ‘D’ unit from 2021-22.
