Dhaka University’s first-year admission application fee increases. A decision on the admission test was taken at a meeting of the deans’ committee of the university on Wednesday (April 6). It will be finalized at the General Admissions Committee meeting on Thursday. From April 20 to May 10, Dhaka University (DU) can apply for the admission test in the first year of graduation (honors) in 2021-22.

 

However, this year the application fee is increasing. A fee of Rs 1,000 has been fixed this year for applying for admission to the du. Last year it was $650. It is also known that the admission test for the ‘C’ unit of the Faculty of Business Education will be held on June 3. The examination will be held on June 4 at unit ‘B’ of the Faculty of Arts, unit ‘A’ of the Faculty of Science on June 10, and ‘D’ unit of the Faculty of Social Sciences on June 11. Apart from this, the admission test for the ‘F’ unit (general knowledge) of the Faculty of Fine Arts will be held on June 17.

 

According to the sources of the meeting, a total of Tk. 1,000 has been fixed at Tk. 1,000, including 956 tk. 50 paise, online service charge tk. 30 and bank payment service charge tk. 13.50 paise for the first year of graduation (honors) in 2021-22. The fee can be deposited at any of the branches of the four state-owned commercial banks (Sonali, Agrani, Janata, and Rupali).

 

This was confirmed by The Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman. He said that some decisions were taken initially in the deans’ committee meeting regarding the admission test for 2021-22. It will be finalized at the General Admissions Committee meeting tomorrow.

 

Students of humanities and business education departments will have to have a GPA of 7.5 and 3 separately. Last year, the GPA was 8 and separately 3.5. In the ‘F’ unit of the Faculty of Fine Arts, earlier the sum of GPA obtained with the fourth subject in secondary, higher secondary, and equivalent examinations had to be 7. This time it has been reduced to 6.5.

 

Meanwhile, in the case of science students this year, the candidates who have passed the minimum eligibility to apply for admission should have the sum of GPA obtained with the fourth subject in secondary, higher secondary, and equivalent examinations should be 8. Last year it was 8.5. However, the decision to have a GPA of secondary and higher secondary at 3.5 separately will be retained in the previous rules.
