Advance sale of train tickets to begin on April 23. Advance train tickets will go on sale from April 23 ahead of Eid. Tickets can be purchased online at the counter as well. The Railway Ministry held a meeting on Monday to announce the sale of advance train tickets for the Eid Yatra. However, the full schedule has not been announced yet.
Meanwhile, ‘Bangladesh Railway e-Ticketing Service’ has published a fake advance list of train tickets on Facebook. It is said that the sale of advance tickets will start on April 23. However, tickets for the 23rd will be sold on April 26, tickets for the 24th, tickets for the 25th will be sold for the 29th of April, tickets for the 28th will be sold for the 30th of April and tickets for the 26th will be sold for the 1st May.
Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan will hold a press conference on the schedule of the Eid Yatra in the next couple of days, said Shariful Islam, senior information officer of the Railway Ministry.
Railway authorities further said that if the Maitri Express on the Dhaka-Kolkata route is not launched before Eid, an additional train named ‘Khulna Special’ will be run on the Dhaka-Khulna route with its locomotives and bogies. A pair of trains named Sholakia Special will run on Eid day. Bangladesh Railway has announced to stop weekly leave of all trains from April 25 to increase passenger service.
This time 93 additional bogies will be added to the railway fleet to increase the passenger transport capacity. Bangladesh Railway has said that six special pairs of trains will run with 102 regular intercity trains.
