Online classes for primary students as well
The government has ordered the closure of in-person classes in all educational institutions till February 6 to keep the students safe from the coronavirus infection. In the light of this directive issued by the Cabinet Department, instructions have already been given to secondary-level students to take online classes. Students at the primary level will also have to take online classes.
The Department of Primary Education has directed government primary schools to take online classes for students. At the same time, the teachers have been asked to keep an eye on the reading by maintaining regular contact with the students on mobile phones or in person. The instructions were issued by the Directorate of Primary Education on Thursday.
The department has directed to stop direct class activities in government primary schools till February 6. According to the instructions, the annual reading plan for 2022 (January-April) prepared by the directorate, NEP, and NCTB is already being followed in all government primary schools. As government primary schools are closed due to the Covid-19 situation, as per the approved annual lesson plan, the teachers of the respective schools will conduct online (Google Meet) teaching activities.
Students should be motivated to participate in the ‘Learn at Home’ lesson program conducted by Parliament Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, and Community Radio through mobile phones and personal communication. In determining the timing of online classes, the time of online teaching should be fixed, excluding the time of broadcast of the ‘learn at home’ lessons running through Parliament Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar and Community Radio.
The department also said that the headteacher will divide all the students in the catchment area of the school to the class teacher and the subject teacher. The teachers will keep in regular touch with their respective students on mobile phones and in-person to check the progress of the lessons of the students.
The instructions also said that the headteacher will take the cooperation of the members of SMC in the matter of maintenance and overall security of all assets of the institution during the closure of direct teaching activities in educational institutions. Regular cleaning activities should be continued in the school.
Following hygiene, the Department of Primary Education has been ordered to follow these instructions till February 6 and continue the activities of government primary schools.
