The first-year undergraduate classes at Chattogram University began on February 22. The first-year classes for the 2020-21 graduation of The University of Chattogram are starting. In the meantime, the university’s admission process is almost at the end. The second migration and the third merit list have been published. The rest of the admission process will also be completed in a row. This was confirmed by the university’s registrar SM Monirul Hasan on Monday (January 31) morning.

Officially, classes for all sections will begin on February 22. A third call has been made so far. All admission activities for young students will be completed before the start of classes. According to the university’s admission committee sources, 20,386 people have passed in the ‘A’ unit this time. There are 1,212 seats. Among the categories included in the ‘A’ unit, there are 110 seats each in physics, chemistry, mathematics, and statistics departments. The second-highest number of 100 seats each is in the department of zoology and botany.

There are 35 seats each in genetic engineering biotechnology and environmental science. There are 30 seats each in applied chemistry and pharmacy departments. There are 22 seats in the psychology department. Apart from this, there are 65 seats in the computer science and engineering department, 55 seats in the EEE section, and 50 seats in the soil science department. There are 40 seats each in the departments of Life Chemistry and Life, Microbiology, Forestry, Geography and Ecology, Institute of Marine Sciences, Oceanograffei, and Fisheries.

8,537 students passed in the ‘B’ unit. The unit has 1,221 seats. Among the categories included in the ‘B’ unit, there are 120 seats each in the departments of philosophy, history, history, and culture of Islam, Arabic, and Islamic Studies. There are 110 seats each in the Bengali and English sections. The Institute of Education and Research (IER) has 105 seats.

5,261 people passed in the ‘C’ unit. There are 441 seats. Among the divisions covered in the ‘C’ unit, there are 87 seats in accounting, 65 in management, 95 in finance, 77 in marketing, 67 in banking and insurance, and 50 in human resources and management. Apart from this, there are 85 seats in the Pali division and 70 seats in the Sanskrit division. There are 50 seats each in the Department of Persian Language and Literature and Bangladesh Studies. There are 41 seats in the Institute of Modern Languages. Apart from this, the ‘B-1’ sub-unit has 35 seats in the theatre, 30 seats in music, and 60 seats in fine arts.

In the ‘D’ unit, 10,301 students have passed and there are 1,160 seats. The departments included in the ‘D’ unit include all departments of the Faculty of Sociology, the Law Department of the Faculty of Law, all departments in the Faculty of Business Administration (Science/Humanities branch in the Faculty of Business), and the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences and Psychology of the Faculty of Biology (Humanities branch in higher secondary).

The number of seats in these departments is divided among students from humanities, science, and business education departments. The number of department-wise seats is as follows: economics (40 in humanities, 66 in science and 26 in business together, 132 in 132), political science (53 in humanities, 53 in science and 26 in business together, 132, including 132), public administration (53 in humanities, 53 in science and 26 in business together, 132).

In addition, anthropology (34 seats in humanities, 34 in science and 17 in business, 85 seats in all), international relations (34 in humanities, 34 in science and 17 in business together, 85 seats), communication and journalism (24 in humanities, 24 in science and 60 in business), development studies (12 in humanities, 12 in science and 6 in business together, 30 seats in criminology and police science (12 in humanities, 12 in science and 6 in business), 30 seats in criminology and police science (12 in humanities, 12 in business and 6 in business).

In this unit, 115 seats in the law department are open to all. Among the remaining sections, 20 are for science stream students in accounting and three for students of humanities, 40 for science branch in management and five for humanities branch, 10 for science branch in finance and five for humanities branch, 30 for science branch in marketing and three for humanities branch, 30 for science branch in banky and insurance and three for humanities branch,  In Human Resources and Management, there are 47 seats for science stream students and three seats for humanities stream students.

Apart from this, there are 10 seats in geography and environmental science and 18 seats in psychology for the students of the humanities stream.
