The directive comes as the prime minister has created rumours on social media by making false statements in the name of the prime minister about the closure of educational institutions during the holy month of Ramzan.

According to sources in the Department of Primary Education, due to the closure of primary schools for a long time in the Coid-19 situation, the initiative was taken to meet the learning deficit of primary level students. For this purpose, it was decided to continue the classroom teaching program in the primary schools till Ramadan 20. The department of primary education issued an office order in this regard on March 24.

Some teachers posted on Facebook opposing the holding of classes in educational institutions during Ramadan.  At one point, rumors spread on Facebook. According to sources in the department, an assistant teacher of Gauripur Government Primary School in Dinajpur Sadar Upazila, Md. Abdul Latif wrote in a Facebook post on March 29, “A thousand salutations, Honourable Prime Minister. Finally, Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the closure of all types of educational institutions in the country from the very first fast.”

On the other hand, Shilpa Rani Sarkar, assistant teacher of Bandutia Government Primary School in Manikganj Sadar, posted a status on Facebook on social media saying, “Finally, Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced the closure of all types of educational institutions from the very first fast. “Two teachers have been suspended for this post on Facebook.  Another headmaster has also been suspended, the Department of Primary Education said.
