We have had to hold 47 meetings with stakeholders who are in our position to fix the fixed broadband rates. Similarly, we are also having meetings with mobile operators. We will be able to fix the tariff for mobile bandwidth very soon. Then there will be no problem. This was stated by BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Shikdar to the media on Wednesday (February 23) afternoon.

He said the new rates will be announced soon. At present, grameenphone customer’s cost of buying four GB data for a period of three days is Rs 76. Banglalink’s customer’s cost to buy the same amount of data for the same period is Tk. 64. There will be no difference if the new decision comes into effect. Instructions were given to provide 5 Mbps speed internet service at 500 rupees at the union level across the country. In light of this experience, the government has decided to set up a single rate on the mobile internet.
