Farid Ahmed, secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, said, “We are studying how many assistant teacher posts are vacant. Based on that, this number will be increased from the posts mentioned in the notification. He also said that the last two years have passed in conducting this recruitment. Many people who have applied for an appointment to the post of teacher are doing good jobs in different places. We’re reviewing all the things. Work is being done to increase the number of posts in the recruitment of teachers by determining the number of vacant posts in all the educational institutions of the country.

On the other hand, according to the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE), the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education announced recruiting 45,000 teachers by increasing the number of assistant teachers. Later, the ministry decided to reduce this number to 32,577 posts mentioned in the notification. That is why the candidates who applied for the recruitment examination went to the movement. In phases, they surrounded the Department of Primary Education and continued the movement. Later, the Prime Minister’s Office asked the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education to appoint all vacant posts in this regard. On the basis of this, the ministry decided to increase the posts for the recruitment of teachers and postponed the time of publishing the results.

According to DPE sources, sub-section (d) of section 8 of the Government Primary School Teacher Recruitment Rules, 2019 states that among the teachers of the prescribed quota, in each category (female 60 percent, pet 20 percent and remaining male), 20 percent of the candidates with a bachelor’s or equivalent degree in science must be ensured. However, the condition is that if the 20 percent quota is not met in this way, then recruitment can be done on the basis of merit.

In this recruitment, the written and oral examination will be taken in three steps, but the final result will be published only once. In the first phase, 40 thousand 862 people passed the written examination, in the second phase 53 thousand 595 and in the third phase 57 thousand 368 people. On October 20, 2020, the Department of Primary Education published a notification for the recruitment of 32,577 vacant posts of assistant teachers. A total of 13 lakh 9 thousand 461 candidates applied for this recruitment examination.

At present, there are 65,620 government primary schools across the country. There are 3 lakh 59 thousand 95 teachers in these schools. Of these, 1 lakh 26 thousand 430 are male teachers and 2 lakh 29 thousand 936 are female teachers.
