For more than two decades, the Kolkata of Patuakhali is becoming a favorite among travelers. However, at one time, the most painful place on the Dhaka-Kuakata 294-km route was 12 small and big ferries.

The last time the ferry was stopped was in October 2024 with the inauguration of the Lebukhali bridge built over the Payra river. The dream Padma Bridge is going to be inaugurated on June 25. As a result, all the districts of the country are being connected with Kuakata.

At present, there is a competition to remove the company buses that are currently plying in Kuakata and drop the luxury buses. However, bus owners said they are already ready to provide bus services.

Jewel Jomadar, in-charge of the BRTC bus counter at Kuakata, told Jago News that due to the Padma bridge, a major change has started in the transport sector in Kuakata. Now the bus goes up to Kawrakandi Ghat. But after June 25, the luxury AC BRTC buses will come to Kuakata directly from Dhaka. Even before the inauguration of the bridge, several companies including Unik, Hanif, Shyamali, Green St. Martin, Sahasya, Ilish have opened counters.

At present, more than 50 transports from Kuakata go to different districts of the country. Some more buses will come after the padma bridge is opened. In the meantime, talks are underway with some of the transports including Sea Beach, Ena, Country Travels, Green Line, Euro, Dipzal, and Sohag. Hopefully, after June 25, we will be able to leave 100 buses daily from Kuakata.

The Padma Bridge is going to add a new dimension to connectivity with the country. Several state-of-the-art luxury bus services are scheduled to be launched in Barguna through the dream Padma bridge. Seven to 10 companies have written to the owners’ association asking for route permits.

Apart from this, various reputed companies including government BRTC buses are also scheduled to bring their state-of-the-art buses on this route. We think of the passengers and the previous buses are ready to run the buses on the new bridge in a new form with new facilities.
