Dhaka University will not have ‘D’ unit in 2023

Dhaka University will not have a ‘D’ unit in 2023. From 2022-to 2023, there will be no ‘D’ unit in the admission test in the first year undergraduate (honours) class. Next year, the admission test will be held through four reconstituted units. Although the ‘D’ unit is cancelled, there is an opportunity to change the department and get admission to Dhaka University.

Then for admission to Dhaka University, the admission seeker of the science and business education unit can take the admission test in the ‘Arts, Law and Social Sciences’ unit for change of department or unit. And the students of the humanities stream can take the test in mathematics or statistics or economics or accounting science or any other subject along with the admission test of the ‘Arts, Law and Social Sciences’ unit for admission in science or commerce subjects.

According to the university administration, the results of the higher secondary examination of the students enrolled in the first year undergraduate (honours) class of 2021-2022 have already been published and the students are preparing to participate in the admission test in five units as before.

Therefore, it has been decided to retain the ‘D’ unit this year in the admission test of Dhaka University. As a result, admission tests will be held in all the five units of ‘A, B, C, D and F’ in this academic year. The university administration also said that in the light of the decision of the special meeting of the general admission committee held on February 7, the admission test for the first-year undergraduate (honours) class from 2022 onwards will be held through four reconstituted units. The four restructured units of the admission test are arts, law and social sciences units, science units, business education units and fine arts units.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over the meeting. This was stated in a press release sent by the public relations department in the afternoon. The university administration also said that students seeking admission to science and business education units will have the opportunity to participate in the admission test in the ‘Arts, Law and Social Sciences’ units for a change of department or unit.

Apart from this, the students of the humanities stream can take the test in mathematics or statistics or economics or accounting or any subject with pre-conditions along with the admission test of the ‘Arts, Law and Social Sciences’ unit for admission in science or commerce subjects.
