Qaumi Madrasa coming under government control, database ready. The government had last year formed a 15-member committee to bring all madrasas under registration following allegations of madrasa students being involved in religious politics and using them in violence. In continuation of this, effective initiatives were taken to bring the Qaumi madrasas back into a structure for the welfare of the students. A database has already been created to implement the decision.
Recently, the cabinet department’s observation called for the revision of the draft giving importance to the issue of qaumi education. The draft education law, which is being restructured with the observation of the cabinet department, is seriously in the committee. Once the law is completed, qaumi education will be fully under the control of the state.
The police have a big role to play behind such an initiative regarding qaumi madrasas. Regarding the Qaumi Madrasa, the police said that on April 5, 2013, the custodial incident at Shapla Square in the capital was used to make the students successful for political purposes.
And the anti-Prime Minister Narendra Modi movement and the arrest of Mamunul Haque last year led to violence by the students of Qaumi Madrasa in different parts of the country, including Brahmanbaria.
After that incident, there were demands from various quarters to bring Qaumi education under the control of the state. On the occasion of the birthday of the martyred mother Jahanara Imam, on May 3 last year, a discussion organized by the Committee for the Elimination of Killer Agents of 1971 also demanded that Qaumi education be brought under the control of the government.
In this regard, the Education Minister Dr. Deepu Moni said, “In the light of the education that we received from the Dr. Qudrat-e-Khoda Education Commission formed by Bangabandhu, we are trying to follow the education policy that we did in 2010. On the contrary, a part of the education system, especially the Qaumi education system, is being discussed. The activities of the Qaumis have come up through all the negotiators.
The Education Minister also said that in any education, if there is no teaching of humanity, if it is not taught about the society, if the love for the country is not taught, if the students do not learn tolerance, then it cannot be called education. More than how to run an educational institution, it is that there must be issues of humanity.

Aminul Islam said, “We want all religious educational institutions, including qaumi, to be included in the mainstream of education. That’s why an integrated policy has been created. A 15-member committee has been formed to formulate the policy. The issue of Qaumi Madrasa was also discussed in the National Assembly.
On January 23, during the Question Hour In The National Assembly, The Education Minister Dr. Deepu Mani said qaumi madrasas need to be run through aboard. There is a need to implement the age-old education system for religious educational institutions, including Qaumi Madrasas, and bring them under government registration.
Meanwhile, a database of all religious educational institutions and teachers and students, including Qaumi, Noorani, Dinia, Forkania, and India, was also prepared. According to the database, there are currently 19,199 Qaumi madrasas in the country. As of 2015, the number of students in 13,902 Qaumi madrasas across the country is about 14 lakh.
