ভূমিকা : বাংলাদেশ নদীমাতৃক দেশ। তাই নৌকা ভ্রমণ এদেশে কারো অজানা নয়। কেননা, বর্ষাকালে যখন রাস্তা-ঘাট পানিতে ডুবে যায়, তখন এক স্থান থেকে অন্য স্থানে যেতে নৌকার প্রয়োজন হয়। দীর্ঘ পথে নৌকাযোগে যাওয়াটাই মূলত ‘নৌকা ভ্রমণ’ বলে গণ্য করা হয়। আমরাও নৌকা ভ্রমণ করে পেয়ে থাকি অনাবিল আনন্দ। এছাড়াও নৌকাবাইচ খেলার মাধ্যমেও বাঙালিরা ব্যাপক আনন্দ উল্লাসে মেতে ওঠে।

যাত্রার শুরু : নৌকা ভ্রমণ খুব আনন্দদায়ক ও চিত্তাকর্ষক। গত বর্ষায় গ্রামের বাড়িতে গিয়েছিলাম। বহুদিন পর গ্রাম্য সঙ্গীদের সাথে দেখা হওয়ায় ভুলে গেলাম শহরের সবকিছু। তখন ছিল পূজার ছুটি। আমরা কয়েকজন বন্ধু মিলে ঠিক করলাম নৌকা ভ্রমণে যাব। হঠাৎ মা বললেন, বড় আপুর বাড়িতে বেড়াতে যেতে। তখন স্থান নির্বাচন হতে মুক্ত হলাম এবং মায়ের প্রস্তাবে সম্মতি জ্ঞাপন করে পরদিন একটি নৌকা ভাড়া করলাম। আপুর বাড়ি আমাদের এখান থেকে ৩০ কি.মি. দূরে। তাতে কী হবে? আমরা পাঁচজন একত্র হলাম। যাত্রা উদ্যোগ-আয়োজন শুরু হয়ে গেল। বাজার থেকে জিনিসপত্র কেনা হলো। পরদিন সকাল ৮টায় নৌকায় উঠলাম। নৌকার মাঝি ছিল দু জন। একজনের বয়স যৌবন পেরিয়ে যাবার পথে; অন্যজন তার ছেলে।

যাত্রাপথের বর্ণনা : সকাল ৮.১৫ মিনিটে নৌকা ছাড়ল। আকাশের অবস্থা ভালোই ছিল। ভাটার টানে নৌকা চলতে শুরু করল। দুপুর দুটার দিকে আমরা সাভার বাজারে এসে পৌঁছলাম। নদীর তীরে বাজারের দৃশ্য বড়ই মনোরম ও নয়নাভিরাম। সবাই মিলে বাজারে নেমে গেলাম। বাজারে সাজানো দোকানগুলোর যেন নববধূর সাজে অঙ্গে জড়িয়ে রয়েছে স্বর্ণালঙ্কার। এদিকে মাঝির রান্না প্রায় শেষ, সে আমাদের ডাক দিল। মাঝির ডাকে ফিরে এসেই ক্ষুধার্ত পেটকে সান্ত্বনা দিলাম। মাঝি সাড়ে তিনটার দিকে সাভার হতে নৌকা ছাড়ল। এবারও নদীর স্রোত ও বাতাস আমাদের ভ্রমণের অনুকূলে। মাঝি পাল খাটানোর সুযোগের সদ্ব্যবহার করেই মনের আনন্দে হাল ধরে ভাটিয়ালি সুরে গান ধরল। নৌকা বেশ দ্রুতগতিতেই ছুটে চলল। নদীর দু পাশের সারিবদ্ধ গ্রাম ও ফসলের মাঠ যেন এক অপরূপ শোভা ধারণ করেছে। দুই কূলে দেখতে পেলাম অনেক বালক-বালিকা নদীতে সাঁতার কাটছে। কেউবা নদীর পাড়ে খেলাধুলা করছে। কেউবা মাঠে গরু চরাচ্ছে। নববধূরা আলতো পায়ে কলসি কাঁখে জল নিতে এসেছে নদীতে।

রাতের দৃশ্য : সন্ধ্যা শেষ হয়ে রাতের অন্ধকার এসে জমাট বেঁধেছে। দূরের গাছগুলো আবছা দেখা যাচ্ছে। মাঝে মাঝে বৃক্ষরাজির ফাঁক দিয়ে অদূরবর্তী গ্রামের আলো দেখা যাচ্ছিল। মনে হচ্ছিল, কে যেন সংকেত দিচ্ছে। আকাশে দেখতে পেলাম অসংখ্য তারকা। চারদিকের নীরবতায় শুধু শুনতে পেলাম আমাদের মতো কয়েকটি নৌকার ছপ ছপ দাঁড়ের শব্দ। এর স্তব্ধতা ভঙ্গ করে মাঝি গেয়ে উঠল-
“মন মাঝি তোর বৈঠা নে রে
আমি আর বাইতে পারলাম না।”

বাইরের দিকে তাকিয়ে বুঝতে পারলাম বোনের বাড়ির নিকটে এসে গেছি। মাঝির গানের এ কলির সঙ্গে তাল মিলিয়ে বললাম, “তুমি আর বাইতে না পারলেও চলবে।” মাঝি হো-হো করে হেসে বলল, “বুঝেছি, যাত্রার শেষ।” মাঝির গান থেমে গিয়েছিল কিন্তু গানের রেশ তখনও কানে বাজছিল। আমাদের নৌকা যখন বোনের বাড়ির ঘাটে এসে পৌঁছল তখন রাত আটটা।

উপসংহার : নৌকা ভ্রমণ বেশ আনন্দদায়ক ও চমকবপ্রদ একটি ভ্রমণ। মাথার ওপর বিশাল আকাশ, চারিদিকে হু-হু বাতাস আর পানির ঢেউখেলানো শব্দে নৌকার সাথে সাথে আমাদের মন হারিয়ে যায় বহুদূর।

Start of journey: The boat journey is very pleasant and fascinating. I went to the village house the last monsoon. I forgot everything about the city as I met my village friends after a long time. It was a holiday. Some of our friends decided to go on a boat trip. Suddenly mother said, to go for a visit to elder aunt’s house. Then I was free to choose a place and agreed to my mother’s proposal and hired a boat the next day. Your house is 30 km from us. away What will happen to that? Five of us got together. The journey planning started. Goods were bought from the market. I boarded the boat at 8 o’clock the next morning. There were two sailors on the boat. One’s age is passing through youth; The other is his son.

Itinerary Description: The boat left at 8.15 am. The sky was good. The boat began to move with the pull of the tide. We reached Savar market around 2 pm. The view of the market on the banks of the river is very beautiful and breathtaking. We all went down to the market. The shops in the bazaar are decorated with gold ornaments like a bride’s dress. Meanwhile, the sailor almost finished cooking, and he called us. I comforted my hungry stomach after returning to the sailor’s call. The sailor left the boat from Savar around 3:30. This time also the current of the river and the wind are in favor of our journey. Taking advantage of the opportunity to set sail, the sailor took the lead and sang Bhatiali tunes in his heart. The boat was moving very fast. The villages and crop fields lined up on both sides of the river have taken on a wonderful beauty. I saw many boys and girls swimming in the river at the two pools. Some are playing on the river bank. Someone is grazing cows in the field. The newlyweds have come to the river to take water in jugs with gentle feet.

Night scene: The evening is over and the darkness of the night has come and frozen. The trees in the distance appear dim. Sometimes the light of the distant village could be seen through the gaps in the trees. It seemed like someone was giving a signal. I saw many stars in the sky. In the silence all around I could only hear the sound of a few boats like ours. Breaking his silence, the sailor sang-
“Mon Majhi tor Baitha ne re
ami ar baity parlam nh.”

Looking outside, I realized that I have come near my sister’s house. I said in tune with the chorus of the sailor’s song, “Even if you can’t ride anymore, you can do it.” The sailor smiled and said, “Understood, the journey is over.” The music of the sailor had stopped but the strains of the song were still ringing in the ears. It was eight o’clock at night when our boat reached the wharf of my sister’s house.

Conclusion: The boat trip is quite a fun and exciting trip. With the huge sky overhead, the sound of the wind all around, and the sound of the water rippling, our minds are lost far away along with the boat.
