Replying to a question on the opportunity for a second-time admission, Education Minister Dipu Mani said, “If we think about the global situation, world-class, then there should be no ‘bar’. But in our country, universities have decided that it could have been given not more than once, but twice before. There were more opportunities in Dhaka University (DU) once given. That opportunity is not being held now. It’s the university’s own decision. They are autonomous institutions.
“Those of us who have had the opportunity to study in different parts of the world, have fallen at different ages. Somewhere there is sometimes age, how long there is a break of steady in the middle – none of this has been a barrier. Maybe we’ll have to go to that place at some point. Now whether we can go now or will it take some more time is up to us to consider. We have to give education to everyone so that anyone from any stage gets the opportunity of higher education.
