Deadline for data entry of unique ID of students has been extended

The deadline for data entry of unique IDs of students has been extended. An office order signed by the Director of the Establishment of Integrated Educational Information Management System (IEIMS project) of the Bureau of Education Information and Statistics on Sunday (February 13) set a separate new deadline for the eight divisions of the country.

The deadline for data entry for unique IDs of students has been extended. In Bangladesh, the deadline was extended in light of the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system. According to the office order, the time was fixed till February 28. But due to technical errors and various problems at the field level, the data entry program has been slowed down, so the time limit of department-wise data entry has been rescheduled for the convenience of the users.

The office order has set a deadline of February 14 to 28 for the Chittagong division, March 1 to March 16 for the Dhaka division, March 17 to March 31 for Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions, April 1 to April 12 for Barisal and Khulna divisions, and April 13 to April 27 for Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions.

It is learned that in the light of the ‘Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system, the government is making unique ID (single identity) for more than three crore students in the country. All students of class 12 from pre-primary to 17 years of age will get this unique ID. This ID will have a 10 or 16 digit student identification number, which will be followed by the student’s national identity card number.

There will be no need to collect separate information to create a national identity card. The students were supposed to be given unique IDs in 2020. But due to corona, it was not possible due to the closure of educational institutions in the past. However, in the corona situation, the primary education department took the initiative of the child survey. Requesting all concerned for data entry within this stipulated period, the office order also said that the institution of one department cannot log in during the time allotted for another department.

Incidentally, the government has started the work of preparing profiles of students during the Mujib year and golden jubilee of independence to give unique ID (single identity) to primary students. All the information of a student will be included in the profile.  A unique ID will be created from the profile information. From this ID, the students will get the national identity card later.
