BTRC introduces new rules for internet usage. Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has introduced new rules for the use of the internet on mobile phones. Under the new rules, unused data after the end of a customer’s package will be added to the next package if the customer buys the same amount of data package after the expiry of that package. In this case, the new rule is that even if there are different tenures, the unused data will be added. Buying a package of the same validity for so long would have added unused data.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function at the BTRC’s main conference hall, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Mostafa Jabbar said, “Every smartphone user uses data. You need to forget the voice call. People will talk, but not through mobile networks. It will be 100% data-dependent. He said, “The operator who does not understand this will disappear from the market. If there is no quality of service, people will forget. ’
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) formally launched the new guidelines on Tuesday. Explaining the new rules, the BTRC said that if a customer purchases a three-day validity 4GB data pack and some of the data remains unused, the unused data will be added to the new package if the buyer buys another equivalent 4GB 30-day validity package before expiry. In this case, the unused data will be valid for 30 days.
Stating that 4G and 5G services will run side by side in the future, Mostafa Jabbar said that emphasis should be laid on strengthening the 4G network across the country. The number of packages should be reduced. He urged the operator to keep the validity of these data packages unlimited. The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications also said that not returning the customer’s money for the call drop amounted to cheating. Apart from ensuring call drops and quality of service, the minister also advised the operators to keep the Bengali version of the website in English as well as English.
