Fasting is an important obligation in Islam. Fasting in the month of Ramadan is obligatory worship for all healthy, normal adult men and women after faith and prayers. Fasting is called fasting every day from dawn to sunset, abstaining from the restrictions mentioned in the Qur’an and Hadith.

After 30 days of fasting or fasting, Eid-ul-Fitr comes which is a very happy day for Muslims. At the end of Ramadan, Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid.

Ramadan 2024 began on March 12. As such, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on April 10 or 11 in 2024, depending on the sighting of the moon of Shawwal at the end of Ramadan. If Ramadan lasts for 29 days, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on April 10. If Ramadan lasts for 30 days, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on April 11. The days of Ramadan, Eid, Hajj, Shabe Barat, Shabe Kadar, Shabe Miraj, Ashura mainly depend on the sighting of the moon. The beginning date of each month of the Islamic calendar is determined by the sighting of the moon. Eid is celebrated after worshipping Allah Ta’ala through fasting for the whole month of Ramadan. In a hadith about the festival and celebration of Eid, it is narrated: When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) migrated from Makkah to Madinah, he saw that the people who lived there before were celebrating two special festivals in a year.

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) disliked their tradition of celebrating their festivals and asked them, “What do you celebrate on these two days?” They replied, “We used to play and enjoy ourselves on these two days during the period of ignorance, and the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘Allah has given you instead of these two days two days better than these, one of which is Eid al-Fitr and the other is Eid al-Adha.’ (Abu Dawood, Hadith, 1134)
