The moon of the holy month of Zilhajj has been sighted in the sky of Bangladesh. According to that the holy Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on June 16 (Sunday). The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Islamic Foundation Public Relations Officer Shaila Sharmin confirmed the matter. The counting of the holy month of Zilhajj will begin on Tuesday as the moon is sighted on Monday. In this case, Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on Sunday (June 16) or Monday (June 17) at 10 Zilhajj in Bangladesh.

During the meeting, the state minister said that according to information received from all the district administration, headquarters of the Islamic Foundation, departmental and district offices, the Department of Meteorology, the aerospace research centre and remote sensing organization, the moon of the Hijri 1442 month of Razab could not be seen in the sky of Bangladesh.

It is seen that the moon of the holy month of Zilhajj has been sighted in the sky of Bangladesh on Friday 15 Zil Qad 1445 Hijri. In this situation, the counting of the holy month of Zilhajj of 1445 Hijri will begin on Tuesday. In view of this, 10 Zilhajj Thursday

Eid holidays are extended by one day to make the Eid journey smooth. Earlier, the government decided to extend the Eid holiday to make the journey of Eid-ul-Azha smooth. The cabinet also approved the holiday on June 16 along with the previously announced holiday.

After the meeting on Monday, the Cabinet Secretary said. Mahbub Hossain said at the briefing of the cabinet meeting that the Eid holiday will be extended by one day. He said June 15 will be a public holiday. This decision has been taken to maintain traffic management.

The cabinet took the decision following the recommendation of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order. Earlier, in addition to the recommendation of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity demanded to extend the Eid holiday by one day.
